CLUBS AND STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Kohima Science College Students Union (KSCSU)
The Union is anchored on a forty year old constitution that premises on Unity, Fraternity and Democracy. Every student of the college is automatically a member of the KSCSU. The Principal is the President of the union. The General Secretary and the other members of the executive are elected through the students general election. The union looks after the interests and welfare of the students and assists the college administration in matters relating to discipline and decorum. It also organizes various co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and helps in the publication of the college magazine Illume. Our students have been regularly winning awards in many district and inter-state level competitions conducted by various Govt. departments, NCC and NGO’s.

National Cadet Corps (NCC)
The NCC, with the motto Duty and Discipline, is a fair-tier administration and is considered to be one of the largest and the most disciplined youth organizations in the country. The college has a very strong NCC unit and it has been regularly winning awards and recognition at the State and regional level.
The Army wing of the college falls under the jurisdiction of 24th Naga (INDED) COY and the CareTaker Officer (CTO) is Mr. Sakhoveyi Lohe, Lect., Deptt. Of Geography. The Air Wing falls under the jurisdiction of No.1 (NL) AIR SQN, NCC (FIG) and the Associate NCC Officer is Mr. N. Meren Ao, Lect., Deptt. Of Chemistry. This is a good preparation for those who love discipline and are militarily inclined. Cadets may take the B Certificate Examination later on which helps one in getting into a military academy. Many of our alumni have been able to get into military service through the NCC.

National Service Scheme (NSS)
The NSS with the motto "Not Me but You" helps to develop the personality of a student through community service. This programme was formally launched by the Ministry of Education in 1969 to inculcate a sense of duty among the students in nation building, particularly rural areas. The NSS is now under the direct management of the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Govt. of India. Nagaland links with the Centre through its State Liaison Officer (SLO), Dept. of Sports and Youth Affairs, Govt. of Nagaland. Volunteers (students) can earn an A or B Certificate in college which is handy later on in getting into a university or a job.
The college has more than 400 volunteers, and its adopted village is Tsiese Basa (Northern Angami). The Programme Officers (POs) are : Mr. Dziesevituo Angami (Zoology), Mr. Selie Puro (Geography) and Dr. Seyiekhrielie Whiso (English).
